Our trademark is that we mine sandstone from the maluti mountains , that is of the same colour and grain sandstone as the older buildings that are falling apart. This raw colour sandstone are then mechanically processed until the end product is achieved. Different colours of sandstone are available.

What is Sandstone ?

Sandstone (sometimes known as arenite) is a sedimentary rock composed mainly of sand-sized minerals or rock grains. Most sandstone is composed of quartz and/or feldspar because these are the most common minerals in the Earth's crust

Centuries ago our Great Grandfathers made use of Sandstone building to build houses and lairs for their animals. Today Sandstone products is used for many decorative reasons, one of them being sandstone cladding. Lootsberg Sandstone is bringing yester year and today’s newest trends together. Lootsberg Sandstone is even restoring buildings that are now being classified as monuments.

The Department of public works has appointed Lootsberg Sandstone to restore old government buildings, and we are currently busy in Clarens Golf Estate , Fouriesburg, Rosendal and Ficksburg. We are also one of two sandstone suppliers in the Freestate that supplies raw sandstone products. No middleman!

Lootsberg sandstone has the ability and knowledge to go on with our Great Grandfathers way of mining using hammers and chisels. Therefore Lootsberg Sandstone’s business is mining from the mountains to the end sandstone product and also to the client’s ideas for his sandstone project.
